Hey! I’m Emily!!! I want this to be as chill & personal as possible so I thought that I would introduce myself by sharing some facts that are my token “fun” facts whenever I’m put on the spot.
Summer is my very favorite and I’ve started theming my summers after my favorite movies! Summer 2022 was a Top Gun: Maverick summer through and through. Last summer: Mamma Mia Summer complete with a trip to the island of Skopelos to see all the film locations! 🤸♀️🇬🇷✨ I went with my mom and it was a trip we’ll be talking about for our whole lives!
I love to hear what arcade games people can absolutely DOMINATE at. Mine is hoops. I’m not athletic in the slightest but for some reason, I really outdo myself with this game every time!
I have a few irrational fears that double as conversation starters because of how irrational they are. Minions, the Kool-Aid man, Johnny Depp’s rendition of Willy Wonka, and the live action Cat in the Hat (2003).
I think picnics are more of an afterthought than they should be! They are my favorite thing and it doesn’t have to be with a fancy basket and floral set up (although those are happy to!). Just a pickup order and a good spot to sit and enjoy!
I LOVE pop-up books and cards! I know there’s a logical explanation for how they do what they do but I just choose to believe it’s magic!!!
A LIL BIT OF MY STORY!
I’ve loved video for as long as I can remember, but I started taking it serious in college. My college didn’t have a film program at the time I attended, so I looked for extracurricular opportunities to create videos and learn new skills. I ended up creating a video series for my university’s admissions office showing prospective students around campus and around the city of Birmingham. During this time, video became one of my favorite things ever! I took on freelance projects around campus, created travel videos of my own, and took my camera with me wherever I went!
DREAM! COME! TRUE!
After college, I moved to LA to pursue a career in film. I had this big dream in my head to be a film editor in Hollywood! While there, I got the opportunity to work on some Marvel Studios projects with some incredible editors and had to pinch myself once a day to make sure I wasn’t dreaming it all up! I learned so much and was poured into by so many people out there that have been in the business for decades.
With all the film industry strikes, the project I was on was halted indefinitely. Sounds like a very sad story, but it really was just a pivot of big dreams to someplace else! Thanks to all my free time after some very long work weeks, I had an incredible summer that helped me look forward to dreaming up the next bit! My best friend got married, I met the man I get to marry, and I decided that I could still make films—just for people and brands I meet rather than for the big studios!
So here’s to launching a freelance video editing & creative business!
Based in Georgia & happy to travel!
